Visiting at Mr Benny Chng's place. We do this every year though this year's turnout quite small cuz some in NS some overseas.
~flashback to the past~
Mr Benny Chng. The guy who forcedly made me join track and field. Now a retired teacher of Outram Secondary, though still teaching on a short-term contractual basis.
FMSS track and field. I joined cuz i thought it would help me be faster when playing soccer. And then soon took training more seriously cuz when i see others ard are trying their best, i also want to try my best.
I still remember his unique way of cajoling us to push ourselves harder. "CHASE THE BLOODY BARGIRL!!" he would shout. Training for track and field is lonely. No teamwork. Just you and your heart and lungs. It helped also to have a strong sense of escapism. Whats the meaning in life? Why am i last in class? Why does my mum keep yelling? Hell... i dont know the answers. Just run and feel the searing pain... pain reminds me that i'm alive. and breathing.
