i may have told some of u i've applied for an internship in the US...
i had just finished a telephone conversation with one of the manager in that US firm, it was a telephone interview... which totally caught me by surprise
i FLOPPED
to assess me, he asked some basic questions and i couldnt even answer them. i only got the simple simple ones right. and i feel so stupid
the ones i knew:
what are the 3 basic logic gates? (ans: AND, OR, NOT)
what is a flip flop (ans: one-bit memory)
the ones i flopped:
what is the characteristic of the XOR gate and how do you build it using the basic logic gates
how do you design a debounce circuit
how do u configure a non-inverting op amp with gain of 10
it lasted about 20min but it was hell... i never expected to answer such technical questions. These are the things that i've learnt in school but was i really expected to know their characteristics like it was on my fingertips? These are chicken questions if i had my textbooks around... Gosh!
luckily, 2 other ntu mates of mine did just as poorly as i just found out...
so he said he'd go through all the candidates and inform us if we are selected by this week... i seriously doubt our chances. and it sucks having to deal with absolute failure early on sat morning
